Google Talk Automatically Updates itself without user intervention and there's no option to disable this feature. I tried Firewall tweaks, Registry editing but nothing avails. Its really annoying, Please experts help me..
How to disable Google Talk Auto Update ?
I know, it's a pain!
Try this: Be sure to backup the registry entries before using the registry鈥檚 Export feature when standing on the Google Talk AutoUpdate key.
1. Close Google Talk
2. Open the registry (using regedit.exe)
3. Go to My Machine\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Googl... Talk\Autoupdate
4. Change the value of UpdateURL to something in valid (or empty)
5. Start Google Talk
That鈥檚 it.
Very simple and seems to work (at least for now).
