Can I use AOL Instant Messenger thru Google Talk on my G1 phone.





I was trying to get around paying the $35 a month...right now I'm using the apps in the market.

Why google talk is not working on my computer?

google talk is not working with my computer. when i sign in then it show an error and could not open. while all other messengers are working good on my computer. please help me why only google talk is not running on my computer.

Same thing happened to me...I found out my danged firewall was blocking it, and not saying so! Also Firefox had a hand in it! So check into those. Then you might check in to the Google Groups (there's a separate one for Google Chat) and search around for comments by anyone else who's had problems that sound like yours!
Reply:maybe there's something wrong with the google network or maybe your account isn't working well, you can ask some help in the google admins, but i dont know if they have any e-mails to contact :(

Install 'empathy' using synaptic. I am still reading - will get back as there are some who don't get outgoing unless the other user initiates the call. Maybe that is ironed out now. Which version are you using? Jaunty?

Open up the menu and tap IM that will take you to the Yahoo, Windows Live AIM and Google Talk clients. You can do what you want then.
Reply:It should come with GTALK, the Google Talk client. Also, Google Talk presence should show up in contacts list on your phone (if they are on Google Talk and in your contacts that is).





I don't have an Android phone (yet), so I can't verify that for you.

How can I secure google talk's text conversations ?

Are the text conversations in Google Talk encrypted or secured? If not, what third parties software can I use to encrypt or secure Google talk or other messenger conversations?

Your text conversations are not secured. Most of your web communication probably isn't. The webpages you see, most IM services, chatting, and anything that goes over the line is unsecured. Unless a service explicitly uses SSL or something along those lines, it is not secured.





If you want encryption, probably the best way is to look into PGP. You'll manually have to encrypt your chat text using PGP and send it through Google Talk.
Reply:I'm pretty sure Google saves all the conversations to a database. To find out for sure you would have to read the long privacy policy. I wouldn't trust anything to be totaly secure and encrypted. I am also pretty sure there is no program you can buy or download to encrypt the conversations.
