Tired of your GTalk friends' messages popping up while you're busy, but don't want to sign off if it's an emergency? Here's how!

Steps

1. Open Google Talk (GTalk).

2. Click "Settings" in the top right hand corner of the box.

3. Click "Notifications" in the left hand tabs bar (note, they don't actually look like tabs.)

4. At the "Notifications" tab, find the heading labeled "Incoming Chat".

5. Uncheck the "Show notification" option box.

6. If you want to go further and not have a sound notification (usually a blip sound), uncheck the "Play sound" option box.

Warnings

* Unchecking both boxes can severely inhibit your ability to recognize that a message has arrived. If it is an emergency, you may miss it.
