I would be so much pleased if you could kindly tell me whether sound is neccesary for internet chattings like yahoo messenger/google talk. Please help up.

Reply:Strictly speaking, for text chatting, no you don't need a sound card. If you want to use the Voice functions then yes you need either a sound card or possibly you could use one those new headsets that plug into your USB port and have sound capability without use of sound card.

Reply:for voice chat(either yahoo r google) u need soundcards. it is the one which senses the input from the system wen u click any sound buttons n gives the output thru speakers. this is the electrical signal to sound conversion part of the system.


but for normal text chats u dont want anything except internet connection n mail id...
